Summer Internship Opportunity
you+we, inc. (www.youpluswe.com) a multi-disciplinary design studio in Virginia Beach, VA, is seeking a summer intern. The selected candidate will be designing, producing and developing work for fortune 500 brands such as ABC, Fox, Reebok, Samsung, Sunsilk, Clinique, Estee Lauder and many others.
In addition, you will complete a summer long project, give presentations and endure harsh and honest critiques. At the end of the summer you will have developed a thick skin and have completed the brainstorming, conceptualizing, design and presentation phases to return to school with.
This is a non paying internship and will require 10-20 hrs a week on site starting in June and run through July. Schedules are flexible to accommodate part time work or summer school schedules.

* NO PRIOR EXPERIENCE NEEDED.
* Candidates must be at least 18 yrs old and provide their own transportation.
* Must be a high school grad or current college student.
* Candidates must present a portfolio or collection of drawing/art/design work from school.
* Basic computer knowledge is required, knowledge of OSX preferable.
* Basic understanding of Adobe Photoshop is required, knowledge of additional Adobe products a plus.
* Additional knowledge of HTML, JavaScript, CSS and others all a plus.

Season 5 of Design Matters starts January 18.
The first half of Season Five of Design Matters with Debbie Millman launches on Friday, January 18th at 3:00 PM on the Voice America Business Network. This first half of Season Five will run from January 18–April 25, and the second half will begin in September. The Fall guest line-up will be announced in August.
Design Matters airs live weekly on the Voice America Business Network, now the industry leader in Internet talk radio. The show was voted a "favorite podcast" on PSFK's Marketing Podcast survey and was recently voted #9 out of over 300 entries for the Cooper Hewitt National Design Museum’s People’s Choice Award. The show is also available as Podcasts on iTunes, where over 50,000 people download the show every month.
Season Five will feature acclaimed graphic designers, writers, illustrators, authors, scientists, editors, and even a Nobel Prize winner. The line-up includes: January 18: Chip Kidd; January 25: Eric Kandel; February 1: Kurt Andersen; February 8: Vaughan Oliver; February 15: Jonah Lehrer; February 22: Petrula Vrontikis; February 29: Stefan Bucher; March 7: Laurie Rosenwald; March 14: Jeffrey Zeldman; March 28: Abbott Miller; April 11: Robynne Raye; April 18: All Music Show with DJ and Designer Michael Hodgson; April 25: Lawrence Weiner.

Welcome to the D.O.D. Blog!
Hi friends,
The D.O.D. mailing list is now a blog, something that's long overdue. While it eliminates those convenient e-mails to your in box, this allows opportunities and info to stay accessible for longer. I'm still shaking this out so more functionality (and a less template design) will be added, especially, I hope, a CSS link. I'll still be posting employment and internship opportunities, events, lectures, workshops, etc. And many of the features of my academic website, like links, we move here. Please feel free to send comments and suggestions!
