Production artist wanted!

Wanted: Graphic Designer who can wield an x-acto blade.
Pay: $15 an hour to start and then $20 an hour once you're proficient (usually takes one week.)
Task: to do mock-up packaging at SwimWays You will not be required to do layouts, the printouts will be provided. You will need to mock them up. A full time employee will be working with you to show you the tricks of the trade, and to make sure that you fully understand how to complete the task.

Visiting artist Debbie Millman, Thursday March 20!


Debbie Millman will speak at Old Dominion University on Thursday, March 20, 7:00pm in the Diehn Fine & Performing Arts Center, room 136. Sponsored by the ODU Art Department's Visiting Artists Program, the event is free and open to the public. Debbie Millman has been in the design business for 25 years. She is a Partner and President of the Design division at Sterling Brands, one of the leading brand identity firms in the country. Debbie is a board member of the National AIGA, and teaches at the School of Visual Arts and Fashion Institute of Technology. She is also an author on the design blog Speak Up, a regular contributor to Print Magazine and she hosts a weekly internet talk show on the Voice America Business network titled Design Matters. Her first book, How To Think Like A Great Graphic Designer, was published by Allworth Press in 2007, and her second, Essential Principles of Graphic Design, will be published by Rotovision in Summer 2008.

Graphic Designer Position

Award winning architectural firm is seeking a graphic designer to support the marketing department and design staff. Position is flexible to respond to student’s academic schedule and pay is commensurate with ability ($9.00 – $13.00 / hr.), experience, creativity and knowledge of graphic programs. Both PC and Mac are provided based on candidate’s preference and / or familiarity. Regardless of platform, each candidate should have a working knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite including Photoshop, Illustrator, and Acrobat. The candidate should possess good communications skills, be self motivated, contribute to a ‘team’ environment and have a passion for good design. Responsibilities include:
• Assist with promoting the firm’s branding / image development both visually and verbally.
• Assist with the development of protocols for the marketing of published materials.
• Assist with the publication of marketing materials and publishing efforts.

• Collaborate with architectural and interior design disciplines on project specific graphic services.
